I promised more blogs and I meant it. So, today is on to the 2nd blessing of 2013...
It was a blessing to have the favor of the schools and officials during our Spring semester. The schools all were appreciative of our teachers and made spots for all of our teachers to return. The officials took care of all of the visas on time for returning teachers and allowed one new teacher to join in a year that left many people scrambling for visas.
I only had one class where the students stuck another student on top of the door. That is pretty exceptional when you are talking about teaching high school. I don't think I could brave a high school here in the States. Thankfully, there are brave souls who find that job exhilarating! So, one time going to class and quickly raising my voice and speaking half in Chinese/half in English to get down from the door and having those boys get their friend off of the door after their quick jaunt and victory dance around the classroom was probably not the worst case scenario for a high school teacher. The students were respectful and really were just fun to be around. We made many friends and are still able to communicate with many of our friends through We Chat and the internet.
Did I ever mention that technology has been a great blessing in our lives? I never thought having a smart phone would add any good to my life, but it has allowed me to keep up with people on a rather easy and frequent basis that I would never be able to keep up with through mail or even email. I am super thankful for the people who thought about and came up with apps and messaging. Awesome!
